Energy Audits / Home Performance evaluation
Having your home’s energy efficiency and energy usage evaluated is the first step toward reducing your energy bills, improving the comfort of your home and doing your part to help the environment. Your home is a big investment not just financially but for your family’s health and comfort as well. With the sky rocketing cost of energy you can not afford not to improve the energy efficiency of your home. But before you start making improvements on your home make sure you are making the right improvements. That is where Noble House becomes your trusted advisor for your homes energy consumption, health and comfort.

Let’s face it, you have enough bills to pay, there is no reason that you should be paying more to run your home than you need to. Unfortunately many home owners pay way more for their energy needs than they should. There are dozens of ways that you spend money on energy that you never even benefit from. This is due to the fact that most homes are losing expensive heated and cooled air through leaky ceilings, walls, windows, doors and other unseen holes. Poorly insulated attics, walls and craw spaces are another hot spot for heating and cooling losses. Your homes shell (thermal boundary) is just the starting point for home efficiency. Other areas where homes suffer from energy losses include inefficient appliances like water heaters and lighting, leaking duct work, HVAC systems that do not function properly even landscaping can play a part in the energy efficiency of your home.

How a Home Performance Audit works
  • Home owner interview
We want to understand what aspects of your home are under-performing.  Through a home owner interview we can begin to understand what aspects of your home need to be addressed.  Noble House takes a whole house approach to building analysis, although we will be conducting a comprehensive inspection it is only through speaking to the residents of a home that we attain a complete understanding of how the home is used and how it performs.
  • Site visit
1.Exterior Inspection (moisture intrusion is focus of inspection)
2.Thermal boundary determination (where your home is or should be insulated)
3.Mechanical systems evaluation and testing (Combustion gas testing where necessary)
4.  Blower door test (to determine air leakage rate and trouble areas)
  • Report
A two part report will be generated and electronically delivered to you upon completion of an evaluation of the data collected.  The first portion of the report is a quantitative evaluation of your homes performance.  This includes energy consumption rates and air leakage evaluations.  The 2nd portion is a qualitative report focusing on why your home is behaving the way it is.
  • Repairs
You will also receive a list of recommended improvements for your home.  As an Energy Star certified contractor Noble House will provide competitive estimates for all of the repairs we recommend free of charge at your request.
  • Test out
A test out is a brief yet essential follow up inspection to confirm that the improvements have not created a health hazard in the home and that the measures where installed properly.  Regardless of who performs the improvements Noble House will return to "test out" the home.  There is a small fee for homes outside of Frederick County MD.

At Noble House we can help you make sound decisions about what energy up-grades will work best for you. We are not going to try and sell you a pre-packaged set of energy up-grades. Every home and homeowner has different needs and desires, we start the energy audit process with an interview and complete the process with your satisfaction.  To schedule an audit please contact Damien Edwards at
